We analyze with you the requirements for a training course and create materials for participants and trainers.

Training requirements

When new software is rolled out, the different user groups need training accordingly.

Users profit mostly from training courses that are oriented on their level of knowledge and their daily tasks. They don’t just want to get to know the software features but more precisely how these are applied in their actual work situation.

Ideally, after the training course, users can use the software effectively in their daily work. For this purpose, users have to know:

  • what features are appropriate for their tasks
  • how they can put these features to work

In complex software systems, the IT department also often needs training in technical principles and technical operation.

We help you to design the training courses and clarify with you what user groups need training and in what. On this basis, we create the required training material and if required also run the courses.

Training material

Training material can for example consist of:

  • Slides for the presentation
  • Training documents for participants
  • Case studies
  • Tasks and solutions

From a single source

Training documents, manuals, and online help can also be produced (with the right tools) from a single source. This enables uniform documentation and simplifies maintenance.

For example: the step-by-step instructions can be contained both in the online help and in the training documents. On the other hand, tasks and solutions are contained only in the training material. If training material and documentation are created in a format that permits conditional text and reuse, this can considerably reduce the amount of work. Single-sourcing can be implemented for example with XML as the source format (DITA, DocBook) or with Author-it as authoring tool.

What input does eolas need?

For training courses, we need not only information about the software but also – ideally – specialist information on the business processes. In our experience, a training course is most successful if participants don’t just get to know the software but can also practice using their tasks and work processes. For this, we need suitable data so that the features can be demonstrated, described and used for practice with realistic sample data.
